I had a problem with a ceiling fan no longer responding to the remote. This company was dispatched by my home warranty company. The technician arrived without bringing a ladder. He used mine which was not tall enough, forcing him to stand on his toes to barely reach the base of the fan with his fingertips. He determined that the fan receiver was broken and indicated he would come back in a couple of days with the required parts. He returned without a ladder and again standing on his toes on my ladder, he replaced the receiver and installed a new remote, which I could not test because it did not have batteries. Without giving me the time to inspect the work done, he left my house in a hurry. I then realized that the ceiling fan could no longer be operated from the wall switch. I called the company but the receptionist refused to send the technician back stating that it was not an emergency. I asked to speak with the owner, but was told that he was not available and would call me back (he never did). The sent another technician the next day and he indicated that the previous technician had installed the wrong receiver. He stated that he had never seen a ceiling fan controlled by both a wall switch and a remote and took apart the wall switch and my two other ceiling fans (in other rooms) "to see how they were wired". He had a hard time reassembling one of the other ceiling fans, and left it very wobbly. I insisted that he fix it but he said he didn't know what to do.
In the end, I was left with a situation way worse than the original one, because the master bedroom ceiling fan now does not work at all, not even using the wall switch (which was tampered with by the second technician), the light dimmer no longer works and my other ceiling fan (taken apart "to see how it was wired") is now wobbly.
I requested that the home warranty dispatch another electrician.
