Hello! My name is Megan. I just wanted to write in hopes of helping people not make the terrible mistake I did. I'm going through a split with someone and was searching for a moving company last minute. I signed up to a site that sends me lists of movers in my area. I was hoping to quickly seek out movers that would be good to my things as well as offer me a reasonable price. I was moving from Big Bear to Santa Monica, CA. The drive is two and a half hours away. Two very nice girls called me and I trusted them! I told them I had very little furniture to move but couldn't manage myself because I'm 6 mths pregnant. When the girls (Dani and Jamie) totaled 541.00 as the price (give or take an extra 95 just in case it took longer, they said), that seemed more than fair. I turned down a flat rate moving company charging 800.00 because I trusted Ori Vanlines and I've been on a tight budget because of my little baby coming.
Three guys FINALLY came....24 hours late! No joke. Got my stuff out in an hour, drove to Santa Monica, waited a half hour for me who was trailing behind them and then hit me with a 1200.00 bill BEFORE unloading, of course. I have to admit, it kinda crushed me! I have faith in people and was very let down. The sweet nice girl named Jamie (whom I even called on the drive to SM and was pleasantly assured that payment would be 541 total due to the drivers being 24 hrs late) totally transformed into an apathetic stranger. When I asked about this outlandish bill, she said there was "nothing she could do." She then said I should call the police (*&@#??) and when I sobbed to her she said she'd try ringing her manager and call me back. Never heard from her again. I called a half hour later and got a voice mail. Meanwhile, the drivers tacked onto my total for the time they "waited for me to complain." They, too, told me to call the police but I'd be paying for that time! I had no other options. I'm not a rich person, and I couldn't call anyone to help legally on the spot. Therefore, my cc on file (just to hold the reservation) was wiped out. Honestly, I was cleverly robbed and even this morning, when I talked to a very rude girl named Sarah, she basically argued with me over my complaint. She told me that they weren't scheduled to come the day I claimed ????? (despite my confirmation email stating the day/time with a promise to honor that). She then came to the brilliant conclusion that I was "just trying to get a discount because I was pregnant..." @(#&@#??). She hung up on me and when I called back and said her drivers were a bit scary as they coldly demanded I pay a bs price for bs added hours and that I would like to talk to a manager, she laughed at me and said to someone near her, "She was scared of Guido." ha ha! I felt humiliated. Not very professional, in my opinion. Again, I'm writing this because scamming innocent people is so infuriating to me. Never before have I been through this but to all of you who have, I'm so, so sorry. It really is devastating to feel so powerless over something unjust. I hope this helps someone!! I truly do. Don't go near this corrupt company. From my experience, I strongly believe that any decent review written about Ori (considering how many bad ones there are) is probably an insider at Ori trying to save face. I also believe that they don't want to make a customer happy. They want to scam more of you by posting a positive review to reel you in. Go to Yelp for more reviews. Check out the Ripoffreport site. You'll see! Wish I checked it out beforehand. Anyways, lastly, when I asked about the hundreds of negative reviews, Sarah smirked (she was so irritatingly good at that) and said it must be "all the other moving companies who are jealous of them." Alas, among all the heartache with Ori...a joke! Jealous? I highly, HIGHLY doubt it.
