Review 1/2/2010
|
I'd like to start off by saying I NEVER have taken the time to write a negative review. Preferably, I like to write positive ones.
HOWEVER, my experience today with Hemet Mobility was such that I feel a sense of duty to share my experience. It started off with me purchasing a tire In the conversation, I asked about speed sensors and explained what my mom's scooter was doing. Richard replied "Yeah...sounds like a speed sensor to me." Since I didn't know the year, he said if I pulled mine out and brought it to him, he could replace it for me. Never did he say with a used one mind you.
After a 30minute round-trip I returned with the old sensor. Then, without saying anything Richard walked away and came back a short time later blowing on something. He painted a used sensor black on the back to show it was his. I explained that I wanted my old sensor too, and he said I couldn't have it. He said his customers before have taken both sensors home, and then painted the bad one black and returned it to get their money back. I explained that I was a VERY trustworthy person and wouldn't do this! His shop has a few signs, some of them very large that say "no refunds or exchanges unless agreed on and in writing before hand" or something to that effect. He said "this switch will work forever...well not maybe forever, but a long time" To which I replied, "then why didn't this one work forever?" He didn't comment. So when I asked him to put that claim in writing he said "oh...you can just take my word."
Against my better judgment (as I like to work with places who trust and value their customers) I took the old switch. He did say that if I kept the new/used switch, and agreed not to bring it back, he would send me my switch. I thought this was good customer service and felt better.
After getting back I plugged in the forever switch and scooter didn't move at ALL! The other switch worked somewhat. I called him since they close at 5pm (this was about 4:40ish) and explained the switch didn't work. Richard said "I told you switch good and you have throttle problem." Ummm...I'm sorry..the bad switch worked a little bit...the great switch not so much. So he said I could come back and he would give me a refund (man of his word which I appreciate). However, after these claims, the lack of trust he showed me, but I showed him, I said "really you want me to drive all the way back there for a part you said was forever?" Richard asked "well...what would you like me to do?" I said "bring me my old switch and the $65 to my moms" which I thought was reasonable. He hung up on me!!! Yes, hung up. I thought "nah...we got disconnected" - Nope, because when I called back and said "I think we got disconnected he said "No! I hung up on you!"
Now, I'm not out to say anything that isn't true and to paint Richard out to be a completely bad person. I said I would come back to the store (otherwise I'm out a somewhat working switch AND $65!). So, I said I would come back, but wasn't sure I could make it at 5pm. He said he had dinner plans, but after a second said he would wait just for me. I arrived to the shop at 4:55pm, and when I entered he greeted me with "we are closed, but I stay open for you" - ummm...your sign says 5pm....
Needless to say, he did refund my money as promised which I appreciate again. However, I have NEVER been treated with so much distrust, disrespect, and complete disregard for providing customer service in my life!
So, please take this review as you like, but I felt it necessary to provide some insight and allow you the opportunity to shop elsewhere...I know I will.
PS: I took my mom's old switch apart and jury rigged it to work which tells me it WAS the switch and not the throttle stuff he was talking about. Probably just wanted to sell me more stuff.
