I purchased a Pride Mobility scooter two years ago while living in san Francisco and moved to Damocles last year
Last November the batteries were not holding a charge anymore and since he is the only dealer in the area ( he owns several mobility stores in hemet and sun city and not sure which others). He said he had the heavy duty 45amp hour batteries in stock and could bring the old ones into the closer sun city store and pick up new ones. My friend went in with the batteries and my friend picked up my batteries and took them in and the nice lady said she didn't have any. She called Richard and he said take them out of a scooter on the floor. When my friend came back they were 35 amphour batteries. I called back and he said use them until he can order the larger ones.. Bothering him almost daily for 3 weeks he finally brought over lager batteries complaining about it all the time. They were the right size but didn't have handles and weren't thee correct ones to put in the scooter. No handles makes it difficult to take them in and out when traveling. He said that was all he could get.
In Feb the scooter stopped working and after calling him daily for a week he finally picked it up and told me motor was broken.. Pride has a 3 yr warranty on it which although a pride certified dealer he refused to honor since I did nit buy it from him.Pride corporate was no help as they said they could not force him to as he is indent. They could find me another dealer to honor it but they were so far away there trip charge was way more than paying him. He said he put in a new motor, but when I had to pick it up he refused to deliver and had to pay cash only it was making noise and 3 months later broke again. He was also very upset I reported him to Pride and they threatened to pull his dealership.
This time again took a week to come get it argued about warranty and tried to sell me a new one way above what I could buy one from most other dealers. Calling every day for several days again finally said it was fixed and would only pay the trip charge as he would warranty it this time only. When I said can you bill me the 95 so I can get the scooter and go to the bank when I get paid tomorrow and get his money he threatened to pull the part out if not immediately paid cash and he would drop it back off broken.
And he wants me to buy an overpriced new one from him??
