I bought a beautiful tool box set for my brother for Christmas when I was visiting him in Delray Beach, FL. The purchase was just shy of $1000, which I don't take lightly! I gave it to him on Christmas eve and when he opened it, one of the smaller pieces (less expensive) was dented on the side. Of course this was disappointing for him, but not a huge deal because I assumed that they stood behind their product and would exchange it for him. After I went home, many states away, he called me to tell me they WOULD NOT exchange it for a new one because he did not have the receipt. Of course in the flurry of Christmas, I have misplaced the receipt. The assistant manager, Marty Rosenstock, was extremely rude and just said forget it, it is not happening. My brother simply wanted to exchange it for an undamaged piece, not get money back! I used a credit card and am determined to get this resolved, but the consumer needs to be aware that Harbor Freight DOES NOT stand behind their product. When I do get a reprint of the receipt, which I know they could have found with a little effort, I will be advising him to return the entire $1000 worth of tool box and accessories that was purchased. I am confident that Home Depot and Sears stands behind their product and I would rather him purchase them there, no matter what the cost!
What has happened to customer service?? I have been a retail manager for 23 years, and have always stood behind my companies product. This cannot be allowed to be acceptable! When we are reasonable customers, expecting reasonable service, what more can we do? Is it not our money that makes sure that you have jobs??
sincerely,
Disgusted in Delray Beach, FL
